I have re-uploaded a remixed version of the 21 minute epic "The Songhua River Giant".

I have not played with a band for over a year now and I have been really experimenting with my solo efforts since late 2008.  This song is something that I have sought after for a good portion of that time and I'm pleased to share it with you folks that enjoy listening to my music.  Of course this track lacks bass, no surprises there, but I promise that before I would ever release anything on a cd, I will track down bass for it don't you worry.

Giant, The has been seen going in a number of different directions since its birth in early 2009, but I'd have to say "The Songhua River Giant" is by far the best example of what Giant, The was meant to be.

Cheers everyone, I appreciate your kind honesty of opinion with my art and I can only say that there is much more to come.

The 3 songs that will be moving forward toward a debut release for "Giant, The" are presently online now for your listening pleasure.

"She Was Surrounded By Sundry Flowers & Omniscient Light" - 8:02
"The Songhua River Giant" - 21:18
"Kyniker" - 9:56

The below details have been taken straight from my recently updated bio at www.myspace.com/giantthe

I hope some of you are as stoked as I am!

Cheers!

"Giant, The" is a musical project based out of Regina, SK Canada. It was created in early 2009 by guitarist and sole member Denys Lemire. This dark yet elegant journey combines Metal with Ambiance and Progression with Simplicity. A wide array of inspiration allows this creativity to be presented in an atmospheric vision that will take your mind away for a good while.

The project has been through many changes over the last year and a half and most songs have not made the cut and simply have been laid to rest. The current demo tracks available for listen are the best examples of what "Giant, The" was meant to be and give a taste of what the future holds. "She Was Surrounded By Sundry Flowers & Omniscient Light" & "The Songhua River Giant" were both written this year (2010) meanwhile "Kyniker" has been resurrected, originally written during the summer of 2009.

The goal for "Giant, The" at this stage is working towards a debut release. Currently there is a 4th song in the very early writing stages that will finalize the material needed to complete the debut album. The 4th song will serve as a title track for the album but the name will not be announced until the song reaches its completion.

There will be further updates once the material is completed, until then the 3 songs online will remain online for your listening pleasure.

Until then and again...

"Music is for everyone's enjoyment. I hope that you are pleased with my contribution to that enjoyment" - Denys Lemire

Well the "unleash the beast in the forest" picture is with out a doubt bainer thread worthy.  Haha, I just made that image appear far more sexual than it really is.  A disappointment for all the lurking perverts that frequent this site, wouldn't you agree Mr. Felch.

Haha, ya I took that photo with my cell phone.  I'm surprised the initial picture turned out so well.  My phone doesn't have a timer on it.  I propt it on something as my arm was too short to make it appear I was not taking the picture.  I leaned over and pressed the button and then quickly dodged into view.  I was like Flash I was.  grin

It's not a disappointment.  The only way you could take it up a notch would be by allowing a baby moose to attempt to milk you like your it's mom.

Couldn't you tell I was performing my call of the Marpet.  The man carpet call simply scares away any prey or predator.  It would have been impossible for a calf, cow or even bull moose to come within a good 100 yards of the Marpet when he performs his call.  grin

Hahaha marpet pic.  That trail behind you must have been all the animals that ran for their lives once the call was being bellowed.

Also - I finally tried that Innis n Gunn canadian cask finish - I think you'd really like it - considering your love for rye.  It was pretty good - could definitley taste the rye finish in it.

The myspace page has received a new face lift.  Check out the new looks.  I've used a similar theme in the past but this one is far better, not too mention it accompanies the music greatly!

www.myspace.com/giantthe

Also two of the tracks "She Was Surrounded..." & "Kyniker" are both available for listen on my facebook page as well.

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Giant-The/137427105654?ref=ts

For some reason I have troubles listening to the second track when I try and click on it.  However if the first track plays all the way through, then it goes to the next one fine.  If you have this problem I'd suggest just listening on the Myspace page.

Cheers!

I will be starting to finish writing and then recording the final piece to the debut album in the next week or so.  Upon that completion I will lay bass tracks down for all the songs and do an overall final mix of the album.  And then once that is done I can look at putting together the money's to get the album copies all looking fancy and shit.  Hmmm, maybe I should start putting that money together now.  grin

Stay tuned for further updates.  Until then, check out the new myspace looks if you haven't yet.  It is very gravy.

Cheers from the solitary Giant, The camp!

Writing & recording of the very long and the very dark last piece of the debut album will begin the start of November and hopefully finish no later than the end of November.  I have not been doing much writing as of late and I certainly steered away from this project for a while.  I want this song to be a dark twist to finish off the album and so I will try and spend a fair bit of time on it to insure it becomes what it is meant to be.

I just want to thank everyone for the continued support of "Giant, The".  I gather so much influence and inspiration from all of the nice comments that have been supplied by you generous folks.  I hope that you all are very excited for the debut release, I know I am!

Cheers!!!

So ya...  Finished the guitar and drums for the final track this evening!  The song has a bit of a different feel to it but I am very pleased with how it turned out.  Just have to complete bass and final mixing and the album will finally be done!

I thank everyone for their support and patience.

Track Listing & Album Art for the debut album, details taken from the myspace page.

www.myspace.com/giantthe

"Giant, The" is an instrumental music project based out of Regina, SK Canada. It was created in early 2009 by guitarist and sole member Denys Lemire. This dark yet elegant journey combines Metal with Ambiance and Progression with Simplicity. A wide array of inspiration allows this creativity to be presented in an atmospheric vision that will take your mind away for a good while.

"In Autumn Metamorphose" is the title of the debut album which is expected to be released sometime in 2011. All guitars and drums have been completed and only bass tracks and final mixing remain before the album is officially done. The track listing and album art can be seen below.

1. Haust - (1:29)
2. She Was Surrounded By Sundry Flowers & Omniscient Light - (8:02)
3. The Songhua River Giant - (21:18)
4. Kyniker - (9:56)
5. In Autumn Metamorphose - (9:21)

There will be more details on the debut release in the new year. Presently you can listen to the songs "She Was Surrounded By Sundry Flowers & Omniscient Light" and "Kyniker" on this page. Keep in mind these are not the final mixes, bass is still required.

Until then & again...

"Music is for everyone's enjoyment. I hope that you are pleased with my contribution to that enjoyment" - Denys Lemire

I have not been spending much time with my music as of late due to work basically taking over my life right now so unfortunately the bass tracks are still not completed for this album... However!  I feel the need to share with you what is done so far.

You can now find all 4 full length tracks from the album "In Autumn Metamorphose" on the myspace page!  Not included is the intro track "Haust".  I cannot call these "complete" mixes due to lack of bass guitar.  It is the final piece to the puzzle, I know it won't take long to do it but it's just a matter of when I find the time.

I hope that you enjoy what I presently have to offer right now.

As always, thank you everyone!

Cheers!
