Also Colours by BTBAM

There is no way that you can say that the production on Colors is better than The Great Misdirect. Colors is a better album yes, but TGM sounds so much better.

The Faceless - Planetary Duality.

The guitar sounds so spacey, and otherworldly. It is absolutely glorious. I love the sound on this album.

Seventh son of a Seventh Son, Brave new World - Iron Maiden

listened to these albums the past day or two, and both have quite excellent sound. The tone on the guitars in Brave New World (intro to ghost of navigator is pew pew from my e-peen) is outstanding. And in Seventh son, the synth and atmosphere of the songs (especially the title track) is fantastich.

I was listening to this earlier this week and I have to disagree. The guitar sound is decent but I find that they get lost behind the drums, specifically the snare.

I know all the production nerds will probably look down their noses at this one, but I've always loved the production on Undisputed Attitude by Slayer. The guitars aren't as nasally as most other Slayer albums, the drums are huge and fat and real sounding, the vocals have a bit of grit to them without being overly distorted. But in particular I love the drum tone on that album.

I also like the production on One Kill Wonder by The Haunted for many of the same reasons.

Albini (I know, he hates being referred to as a producer):
Neurosis - "Times of Grace"
Jesus Lizard - "Goat"/"Liar"
PJ Harvey - "Rid of me"
Nirvana - "In Utero" (Album destroys "Nevermind" on the basis of production alone....doesn't hurt that the songs are better)
Zeni Geva - "Desire For Agony"/"10,000 Light Years"

Kurt Ballou:
Converge - "You fail me" and on
Swarm of The Lotus - "Sirens of Silence"
Buried Inside - "Spoils of Failure"
Nails - "Unsilent Death"

Flood:
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - "Boatman's Call"
Nine Inch Nails - "Downward Spiral"
PJ Harvey - "To Bring You My Love"

Andrew Schneider:
Everything he's done for Coextinction records so far.
Julie Christmas - "The Bad Wife"
Keelhaul - "Keelhaul's Triumphant Return to Obscurity"
Unsane - "Visqueen"
Made Out Of Babies - "The Ruiner"
Celan - "Halo"

Billy Anderson:
BuzzOven - All
Eyehategod - "Dopesick"
Melvins - "Houdini"
Bungle - "Disco Volante"
Sleep - "Jerusalem"/"Dopesmoker"

That's good for now, I'll do individual albums later.

Agreed.

Transylvanian Hunger
Also agreed.

I really like most of Decapitated's production, like The Negation and Nihility (Slawek and Vojtek Wieslawski, Decapitated). Also Misery Index's production for the last few albums (Eyal Levi, Kurt Ballou, Steve Wright). And Cephalic Carnage's last few as well (Dave Otero). And Agoraphobic Nosebleed have been sounding great pretty much constantly (I think all production is done by Scott Hull, and maybe some by Jay Randall).

Primus--The Brown Album. Just big and raw and dirty sounding, but you can still make out all the individual parts clearly.
