THE FIFTH DAWN

We are a band that has just started and are just beginning to write our first songs. Sounds kind of like melodic death metal with a progressive twist and influences from lamb of god, behemoth, tool and lots from dream theater(drumming). Our drummer has been playing jazz for 5 years or so, which is represented in his playing and style. It's a really different sound and I'm really excited to start playing shows in a couple months.

the line up:

JD Lemire - Lead Clean/Death Vocals
Justin "Pierre" Garchinksi - Lead Death Vocals
Greg Berner - Lead Guitar
Dan Celis-Arnusch - Rhythm Guitar
Ryan Haggerty - Bass/Backing Vocals
Brent Rodgers - Drums

To hear some recorded stuff by Greg check out
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=383746
the "band demo's" aren't us, they are just older stuff that he had jammed with another guy>

We will probably be playing our first shows in early october if all goes as planned.

Let me know what you think of the logo> I spliced together a bunch of pictures and I'm curious if it looks fluent.

after doing a search, I will say this, it has nothing to do with Magic the Gathering and playing cards or the magic books, or italian composer Ennio Morricone the writer of the themes to "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" and "The Untouchables" or his piece "The 5th Dawn". fuck.

I used to play magic back in like grade 7 or 8 or something. Interesting there is a card called the fifth dawn.
i am excited for this band. i am too lazy to type up the reasoning for the name though, so maybe later.

Considering the fact that he used to play "magic", I'd say the possibility of him being "okay" with you raping him.......

is good.

as of right now we have about one and half songs done. they are both really good. we just keep writing crazy shit with meshuggah like qualities so its taking forever to write. i'm gonna have to put some extra hours into writing over the next couple of weeks if i want to stick to the schedule of being able to play a show in 2 months.

oh yeah and apparently our drummer knew about the fifth dawn being a set of magic cards and never said anything, and he would know seeing as he is in ottawa right now for the national magic card tournament. apparently he makes good money at it!

tonights jam was tight, but now that we have that song done I'm gonna have to spend more time writing new shit so I stay a step ahead of the game. I'm thinking of a part along the lines of what I was doing with the harmonics last jam.

song numba two is done.

i just came up with this one riff a couple of days ago that has a very progressive edge to it yet with a metal core sound as well, its pretty trippy, I'm pumped to show it to you tonight. I have been a busy little mexican.
