Their bass player is nowhere near capable enough to play this song. What a fucking disgrace to the almighty Cliff Burton.

And the Cliff comment was just ridiculous.

Mastodon rules, Metallica used to rule and now they suck Donkey dick. I haven't even listened to this yet-haha.

Roque played bass for a now defunct band called Orion.  I'm assuming that's where the comment came from.

I doubt he would argue that.  I think what he's saying is Mastodon's bass player is non-exceptional.

listen to Leviathan and tell me anything about Mastodon is dull.
I listened to the song and the only difference is the intro. The rest is played to a T so what's with all the fuss? (Not you dave but the others saying it's a disgrace and tuning problems and blah blah blah) Who fucking cares, it's a cover tune.

not saying they didnt do a good job, i just hate when bands cover tunes and tude down a step and a half. everything else was good besides a couple minor tone issues in one of the guitar solo's. sounds like his guitar is dieing

The tune was good structurally, there were just some subtleties in the bass line that weren't played properly. It just seems like he didn't pay much attention to to how Cliff played it and just made sure he got the basic parts down, falling into the stereotypical bass player role. But for a song driven by the bass line and where almost all of the leads are done on bass, those subtleties are really important. I'm sure I'm one of the only ones to notice because I learned this song note for note a while back...it just really pisses me off when covers are done half-assed. I wouldn't piss me off so much if they added their own twist to it, but they stuck to the original, and ended up doing a half-assed job of it.

Rushed, shallow & lifeless.
A totally half-assed attempt to emulate truly great music.
Neither the Beatles or pre-90's Metallica should EVER be covered.
In fact ... there should be a law against this sort of thing happening.

they do a fantastic job covering the beatles on the transatlantic dvd...also nice is the choice of covers mixed into the medley...no obvious bull shit.

Type O Negative covers The Beatles excellently, so I disagree with this statement.

If I'm also not mistaken, Jeff Healy did a great cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

If you believe that SHIT version by Healy is to be considered good ... (constipated turtle boy)
I can hardly imagine how awful that crappy blood band would butcher ... anything.
