These two reviews are due to be posted on the Chilian Webzine Burning Black (www.burningblack.ne t

MALVEILLANCE – Insignifiance (Suffering Jesus Productions): This work is the Cd version of “Insignifiance” demo tape, originally released by Tour De Garde in 2005, plus four previously unreleased tracks, recorded in 2004. I have very few information about this Canadian band, as far as I know, Malveillance is a one-man-band playing an extreme Crust Black Metal with strong Anti-Zionist thematic, in fact I have seen its name in some NSBM lists… Anyway, the music of Malveillance is an extreme blend of Crust Punk with savage old school Black Metal, reminding me at first listen the sound of their countrymates Akista, especially in the raw sound and the hellish atmospheres. “Insignifiance” moves between the chaotic and cruel Black Metal sound, showed in the extremely raw, ripping, blackish mid toned growls, and the Crust Punk structures with violent guitar riffs that ranges from straight Black Metal riffing to schizophrenic Crust “melodies”. The drumming seems to be purely Crust, with its characteristic beats and rhythmic performance, sounding like a secondary element, but completely indispensable for the whole album’s structure… This work consist in 17 songs, clocked at 40 minutes, as I mentioned before, the last four tracks were previously unreleased, until now; these songs are quite different from the original “Insignifiance” demo tape (the firsts 13 tracks), these pieces are much more inclined toward the straight Black Metal, with sharpened guitar riffs and standard Black Metal drumming, that leaves its Punk mood and embraces the cruel Black Metal sound. This work has a pretty undercooked sound; don’t forget “Insignifiance” was a demo cassette, don’t expect a crystal clear production, but I must say the music sounds strong and legible enough. Although the Crust/Punk marked influences, this is, basically, a raw and primitive Black Metal album, full of the misanthropic and hateful aura only the true Black Metallers can really appreciate. POGROM 1147 – Black Metal Complete (Suffering Jesus Productions): Pogrom is a Russian word that means to demolish violently, a massive attack on a particular group; ethnic, religious or other, primarily characterized by destruction of their environment. The pogroms were well know as violent attacks against Jews in Russia and lately in Nazi Germany, but the band was inspired (unofficially) by the extermination of thousands of Christians in the year 1147… Now, can you tell me what are you expecting from a band called Pogrom 1147? This Polish horde formed back in 2001, with two demos and a single song Ep at their backs; finally release their first full length “Black Metal Complete”, a brutal piece of extreme and raw Black Metal, with predominant fast, blast (programmed) beats driven parts, the whole album reaches a strong chaotic feeling, increased by intense double bass passages. Although the drums are made by a computer, its sound isn’t so plastic; it doesn’t sound like a human drummer, but sounds pretty fitting with their old-school inspired Black Metal. The cyclic and hypnotic riffing, are the responsible of the trance-like atmosphere, just listen to “Souldemolition”; the riffs will drill your skull, and will make your ears bleed for sure. The guitar work here, merit of Carnifex and Graven, completely drives this band, leaving the programmed beats at second place and complementing its sound with the vocal work. The vocals are mid toned grim growls spitting blasphemies in a very explicit way; the lyrics seem to be pretty unelaborated, dealing with Satanism and nihilism in a particularly straight approach… but nothing to complain about either. The whole music of “Black Metal Complete” is nothing really original or astonishing, just raw Black Metal, simple but effective and highly enjoyable if you like the Extreme Black Metal without further complications.
