We worked on the mix for another song today. It's sounding killer! It's been a treat working on Flo's drumming.

While I ordinarily respect the opinions of the above noted, this time they are wrong and should atone post haste.

I kind of have to agree with one post on that MetalSucks thread though.

Quote
This sounds like shitty background music from a shitty video game circa 2001 – especially if you take the vocals out..

Minus the "shitty". And I think that's half the reason I enjoy this. I feel like I should be playing Road Rash or something while listening to DD.

Road Rash, the version with Paw and Soundgarden, was a fuckin' great game!

Also, DD album is nearing completion...

I hear what you're saying.  I'm pretty all over the place with what I like.  And I don't care what genre something falls under.   Valid point, but I don't feel it applies to me.  Might to someone else though.

.would it be as great a success?
but is it a success ? just cause a bunch of us on this board like em dont mean much . time will have to tell but all the odds are against them IMO . I didnt think success was the meaning of your questioning .

I feel like a dick....I really do. It seems like I'm shitting HARD on this group...and I wouldn't be if it weren't for past musical projects.

Then maybe its you thats holding on to the local rock star status and are disappointed with the direction things are taking so you lash out at them ?

Maybe it's a matter of not doing the same ol.  You hear the name 'Flo' and insta think blasts and insane double kick - maybe he enjoys being a little more laid back in something a lot different than he's been doing for decades.

Robs guitaring is right up his writing alley - adds a different dimension to this style.

That being said - it's not a bad thing to try to broaden your horizons as a musician.

If this project didn't have the local "rock star" status (which is urban legend btw)

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'urban legend' part here...can you edumacate me?

I don't want it to seem like I'm telling anyone what to like here. I respect everyone's right to listen to whatever the fuck they want....and I also totally believe in branching away from the metal roots which they have grown within for so many years, and have been true to.

but only if its something that you like? or what? you're doing/saying the exact opposite.

But as far as it goes for myself... There is no "local rock star status" thing going on for me, I'm not much of a cryptopsy fan, so flo could be mo, or even joe, and it wouldn't make a difference... and I don't even know who else is in the band so the point is moot for me.

I don't listen to rap because I don't like the music/beats that usually accompany it. I have respect for the genre because rappers have a great skill. Some of the rhymes those guys come with are un-fucking real, but like I said I usually can't enjoy the rest of the music. This takes the skill of rap, and fuses it with my favourite genre. What's not to like?

I'm with you on this (except the not being a fan of Cryptopsy thing). That said, I will admit that this project is strange in a couple of ways. However, that in no way changes the fact that when I saw them live at the exchange and gave the tunes they uploaded a listen, I was impressed. It wasn't just the fact that they are well known around here, or "local legends" for that matter either.

In the end, after checking these guys out, I was impressed with this mash-up of artists doing somthing that they could very much end up getting flamed for, and do it well.

My stance on this:
I like good hip-hop
I like good death metal
I hate rap-metal
I like Digital Doomzday

rap-metal generally never mixed "good" parts of either genre into their music, nor did they use more extreme metal to blend into rap and the never used blast beats.  Digital Doomzday have the seemingly rare talent to incorporate the "good" in each genre and blend them together.

It definately isnt for everyone, I have friends that love hip-hop and hate DD, I have friends that love death metal and hate DD.  I dont have any friends who listen to rap-metal so I cant speak for their perspective, however, to each their own.  But saying that people only like this band because of "local celebrity status" is bullshit.  Basically your calling everyone who likes this project a kiss-ass.
