From Blabbermouth:

John Garcia (KYUSS, UNIDA, HERMANO) will perform an entire set of KYUSS songs at next year's Roadburn festival, which will be held at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland from Thursday, April 15 through Sunday, April 18, 2010.

The incredible emotional content of KYUSS is due in large part to the vocals of Garcia. Deeply rooted in blues and baked solid by the searing desert sun, his powerful contributions to the classic KYUSS records "Blues for the Red Sun", "Kyuss" (a.k.a. "Sky Valley") and "Circus Leaves Town" cast the mold for a legion of imitators.

Roadburn festival 2010, including Tom Gabriel Warrior's Only Death Is Real, a GOATSNAKE reunion, CANDLEMASS 25th-anniversary show and ENSLAVED as "artists in residence," will run for three days. There will be an additional afterburner event on Sunday, April 18, 2010.

CANDLEMASS will perform its classic album, "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus", in its entirety, with Johan Längquist (who sang on the original LP) on vocals. There will be a special part of the set that will incorporate new singer Robert Lowe as well.

Planes can help in that department - unless your a really good swimmer - and buy a water proof GPS cause rumour has it it's easy to become misdirected in large bodies of water due to currents.

The only festival I would ever go to a different continent for would be Wacken.

Wacken is the new Ozzfest.
The amount of rad metal festivals that go on that the "mainstream" doesn't know about are insane.
Also why is this in the "UnMetal Chat?"

Okay, okay. I had yet to read the list for hellfest, but I concur , it destroys wacken this year. But I would love to go to either one honestly.

*speechless*

What a show. Garcia is the fuckin man. They need Ocean Cheif and Electriic Wizard on the bill and they could probably kill people sonically. The weirdness here is Enslaved...Man I started listening to them when they were black metal in the early 90's...and now they somehow have morphed into something that fits on this bill? WTF???

Yes it was quite the show (Hellfest) garcia is soo crazy good (this is long over) i really wanna hit up roadburn next year just have to get tickets before they sell out in 45 mins...

Enslaved has always been psychedelic in its way (in form of intense progression and brain melting riffs.)

That sounds like a plan to me!

Enslaved psychedelic? Meh...I dunno. Not until around Blodhemn and after I would say. Ivar did a little FX work on earlier albums but it was very, very sparse. Lots of keys though but I never thought they sounded overly psychedelic.

But progressive? I can get behind that 100% from Eld forward...maybe a bit proggy on Frost too, like Fenris. Their first 3 releases though, predominantly straight up black metal with class. Enslaved -Yggdrasil through Eld is my favorite era of the band, the genre and just some of my favorite music, period. Vikingligr Veldi and Hordane's Land are in my top 5 fav disks ever.

The 2nd band I was in, we took a shit ton of cues from early Enslaved with respect to the very long songs, the very long and repetitive riffs, etc. In fact, our drummer at the time idolized Harold Helgason.

BTW, you're the only person I've ever heard mention Ocean Chief. I recently found out about them several months back and have been onboard since. I'm not sure what to pick as a fav from them but I like their Den Förste disk. Nice and fuckin heavy!

Yeah I tend to delve into the u.g for some good doom/stoom/stoner/sludge and i came across them and totally dig everything Ocean Chief put out... i wish i had my ipod right now so i could name a few spot on albums

Lately its been: Electric Wizard, Ocean Chief, Black Pyramid, Witchcraft, Asteroid, Colorhaze, Moss, Cathedral and Egypt... (and some old school candlemass)

Man, Enslaved lost me at Mardraum and Monumension. Below The Lights is kick ass, I agree. I eventually came around to those other 2 albums but it took some serious force feeding to do so.

MOSS FTFW!

I think I'm going to hit up the p2p and check out a couple of those others like Black Pyramid. Keep seein their name around but I stopped following music altogehter a couple years ago. I think I may pick it up again...

I'm still bitter about your Black Pyramid 12" (I think it was a 12" that you got and then proceeded to flaunt at me anyways lol). Jus sayin'.
