You've pretty much learned all the parts I don't know how to play in the song. Let's jam it some time.

There is one part though that I caught you making a mistake. You were playing, on the tapping lick at ~2:10:

-15-10-9-7-9-10-15- ---------------15-10-9-7-9-10-15----------------
--------------------------15-10-9-7----------------------------15-10-9-7--

Where it should be:

-15-10-8-7-8-10-15- ---------------15-10-8-7-8-10-15----------------
--------------------------15-10-8-7----------------------------15-10-8-7--

Within the Ruins also tunes to G# which is not fucking cool, to tune to (that sounds redundant) .

FURTHERMORE,

i'm 37094830924% sure that death has been done WAY more times than anything i listed. millions of times more, so your logic on doing something "new" fails hard budday.

you owe me and every metal head an apology.

Title: Re: Post Your Vids!
Post by: Vioplasm on June 08, 2010, 06:59:32 PM
I meant something completely new outside of Death, after the fact, something completely new instead of old school death metal, prog death, melodeath, whatever bands you listed as "death metal" and mix it up, to create something fresh ... so no I wont apologize if I'm trying to instill creativity in someone ...

im going out for a couple hours so i wont be back in awhile

... and yes Death has been done a trillion times over to no end

Title: Re: Post Your Vids!

no no not a brennsy!!

hahahaha sorry i was on my way out, wasn't really thinking, you guys go ahead and jam the new metalcore/death metal, whatever works for you, to each his own

I, on the other hand will continue learning old school death metal, along with that, freshen things up with something original, but i like to keep it old school as much as possible, and i would like to add Cynic's Focus is still newer and forward thinking than whatever is coming out these days : )

if you are only influenced by all these new bands and that is all your listening to, then you wont come up with anything original, that is all

Title: Re: Post Your Vids!
Post by: Cam on June 08, 2010, 11:19:10 PM
Yeah cause all the old school bands did stuff like Within the Ruins or All Shall Perish do and there`s nothing  original there.

Title: Re: Post Your Vids!
Post by: grim and nordic on June 09, 2010, 12:50:44 AM
yeah, sorry man, still don't follow your logic there. protest, within the ruins, i am abomination, and whatever else i listed is all VERY unique stuff.

i'm extremely snobby with what i listen to, if its not original sounding or if the musicians are subpar, i don't bother with it.

Except most of that tune stays at C and above. If you want to talk about clarity possible with G# tunings, listen to Periphery.

Although they are one of a select few that can pull of the ultra tight playing needed to have ANY clarity when tuning that low.

I dont quite understand what your saying here?  Like they play 'C' Chords?  Because I know for a fact that Within the Ruins tunes to Drop G# on the entire Creature album.

Title: Re: Post Your Vids!
Post by: Whatever the fuck I call myself these days on June 10, 2010, 12:10:56 AM
Yeah probably. I just meant that the lowest note they were hitting for most of that song was C, which didn't make it a great example of clarity with lower tunings.

This is my first crack at Avalanche by Cloudkicker. I learned it by ear so I know that I don't have it 100% the same as the actual song, and I know that the end of the song has a few playing mistakes - but it's been a long time since I have recorded myself playing anything so I figured to take a shot at this. I will probably do another take once I practice the song a bit more.

Hey guys in addition to The Fifth Dawn, on the side I'm playing in a pop-punk band called A Perfect Punchline, and a tech metal/hardcore band called Sky Briggs.

Here's a couple live drum vids from recent Sky Briggs shows in Saskatoon:

my favourite part is the 1.5 seconds i accidentally walked in the view of the camera at 1:30. i was obviously lost so i quickly turned around.

I can't fuckin remember his name right now, but he puts on alot of the hardcore shows. he was wearing just a straight white shirt and a blue jays hat and blue jeans when i saw him, the first thing i thought when i saw him was spitting image of you at one of the shows you played here recently

super good.

I agree. I'm just gonna repost my comment from youtube:

This should be the badass final boss music for an SNES game. Maybe one of the Contra games.
