Ulvklan is a Folk Metal project based out of Regina, SK Canada. it was created by musician Denys Lemire in the summer of 2009 originally under another name. Ulvklan is inspired by Tales & Myths from Nordic & Celtic Cultures. Denys expects winter 2010 to be a productive time for Ulvklan as he plans to focus more on the folk elements in the project including adding more folk/celtic instruments. Though Ulvklan is currently a solo project, there are plans to collaborate with a variety of guest musicians in the future and possibly even put together a live act. In the meantime, enjoy the very Progressive Folk demo song called "Goblins, Trolls, & Forgotten Lore". Cheers! www.myspace.com/ulvklan (http://www.myspace.com/ulvklan) (p.s. this is the final name change for the project ;)) Title: Re: Ulvklan (folk metal) Post by: Bedrovelsen on September 25, 2010, 03:29:54 PM Will listen when home from work! I will be spending a fair bit of time working on new material this winter. The aim is to get more involved with the folk/celtic influences which means adding more instruments. I plan to acquire for myself a Mandola or Octave Mandolin to go along with my regular Mandolin. I am also investing in a Wooden Flute and maybe a high whistle. I'm not sure whether to make the project into a solid act or a shared project (something along the lines of Folkearth). It will all depend on how much interest there is I suppose. I'm hoping to start working with others in the new year, unless I get nagged to get things going quicker. Title: Re: Ulvklan (folk metal) Post by: GnomeBeard on October 17, 2010, 03:57:52 PM Glad you guys enjoy! There's nothing new to say about this project at the present moment but I still plan to work on some new songs this winter for Ulvklan.
Title: Re: Ulvklan (folk metal) Post by: ClaytonHGJanzen on January 09, 2011, 01:08:19 AM Man! if I were in Regina, I'd be down for bass and backing vox, little percussion too maybe. Great stuff!

Title: Re: Ulvklan (folk metal) Post by: GnomeBeard on March 19, 2011, 08:17:18 AM Glad to see some more of you like this interesting creation.
Ulvklan still remains a dormant solo project. I have not really been working on new music for this or any other project as of late just because of work, preparing for Iceland & Norway financially, etc. I have been playing around with my mandolin quite a bit but I'm not sure if I will use any of that material for this project. Everytime I listen to "Goblins, Trolls, & Forgotten Lore" I think of some really great ideas. Once I start focusing more on Ulvklan again the outcome should be quite fun. I want to go all over with this project. Clashing the more extreme & experimental folk metal styles with more traditional folk and Celtic music. As for the project remaining solo, until I do some more writing I likely won't be collaborating with anyone for Ulvklan with new material. But eventually I wish for that to change as I do want to play with others eventually so if you are interested still just "pm" me a message with your name and location. I will compile a list of people for when the time comes. Also for those singers interested, I do want to add vocals to "Goblins, Trolls, & Forgotten Lore". Let me know if you're interested. I wouldn't mind working with a few people. I also might try out some vocals, we'll see how that goes over. :-D Cheers everyone! Title: Re: Ulvklan (ALBUM ONLINE!) Post by: GnomeBeard on May 25, 2011, 09:28:05 PM The unreleased and never before mentioned album called "Bird Serpents O'er Bifröst" is now up for listen on both Myspace & BandCamp!
(http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/3013/erbifrstsmaller.jpg) "Bird Serpents O'er Bifröst" 1. War Of The Leviathans - 8:11 2. Kamp För Den Land - 11:16 3. Goblins, Trolls, & Forgotten Lore - 12:26 Denys Lemire - guitars, mandolin, drum & string programming All songs written & recorded in 2009 by Denys Lemire. Re-mixed in early Spring 2011. Sort of undecided on whether "Bird Serpents O'er Bifröst" will have a physical release. I feel the album to be a bit incomplete as my lazy ass never completed bass tracks. Feel free to provide me your feedback on me getting this released on cd. For now, I hope you enjoy checking out the tracks online! This was a very fun creation! Very cool sounding stuff dude!

Title: Re: Re: Ulvklan (ALBUM ONLINE!) Post by: The Prairie Prophet on May 28, 2011, 10:25:16 AM Hmm, feels like it's missing some bottom end...
:-D Title: Re: Re: Ulvklan (ALBUM ONLINE!) Post by: GnomeBeard on May 28, 2011, 10:43:52 AM Haha, are you surprised? I still have yet to complete bass tracks for "Giant, The" tracks Kyniker and In Autumn Metamorphose. If I release a physical copy of "Bird Serpents O'er Bifröst" I'll be sure to complete bass tracks in the mix as well.
Title: Re: Re: Ulvklan (ALBUM ONLINE!) Post by: Panzerfauster on May 28, 2011, 12:56:43 PM I actually dig the lack of bass. I think it adds to the ambiance of the tracks.
Title: Re: Re: Ulvklan (ALBUM ONLINE!) Post by: The Prairie Prophet on May 28, 2011, 05:49:41 PM i think the tracks are epic but need bass.
Title: Re: Re: Ulvklan (ALBUM ONLINE!) Post by: ClaytonHGJanzen on May 29, 2011, 01:31:02 AM If there was a great bass track for this stuff it would not detract anything from this in anyway. Sadly to say a great bass track would be far and few between.
Title: Re: Re: Ulvklan Post by: GnomeBeard on May 29, 2011, 09:24:36 PM I played around with the bass today along with these tracks. It had went alright. I'll likely start recording the bass soon. But I will be finish up the bass on the last two songs on "In Autumn Metamorphose" first.
